Exam oriented facts for National Flag


Braggadocio, i am posting continuously from 5 days in favors of exam oriented topics of general studies and general knowledge. It's a great self satisfaction for it and getting such warm response from my fellow readers.
the series which we are posting these days about our national symbols like Some facts about our national song and Some facts about national emblem. In continuation to this topic today we discuss some more facts as per Exam oriented points only about our National flag. This post will extend some points as they are more important  then others and already asked in many exams you can also test your knowledge here.

  • National flag of India was adopted by Constituent Assembly of India on 22 July, 1947.
  • A tricolor flag was first accepted by Indian National Congress (INC) in 1931,having Charkha in place of today's Chakra. 
  • It is a horizontal tricolor of deep Saffron at top (stands for courage~bravery, daring, sacrifice~ lose, offer, offer up,renounce  and renunciation~resignation, sacrifice, self-denial), White at middle (shows truth~veracity, legitimacy, maxim, naked truth and purity in thoughts), dark green at the bottom (symbol of life abundance~ bounty, copiousness, fortune, myriad and prosperity~interest, life of luxury, opulence, plenteousness).
  • A wheel (Chakra) in center of the white strip is the symbol of progress~hike, impetus, improvement, and movement~locomotion, maneuver. It has 24 spokes. 
  •  Supreme court declared the right to hoist flag as Fundamental Right under article 19(i) (a) of the constitution of India in 2002.
  • The flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya and first time the flag is hosted by Sacchindra Prasad Bose in 1906 in Calcutta and later on the year 1907 an another tricolor flag was unfurled by Madam Bhikaji Cama in stuttgart.
  • The first flag committee was headed by Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
